Information collection and use
Tanks-A-Lot is the sole owner of the information collected on www.tanks-a-lot.net. Tanks-A-Lot collects information from our users at several different points on our Web site.
Order
We request information from the user on our order form. A user must provide contact information (such as name, email, and shipping address) and financial information (such as credit card number, expiration date). This information is used for billing purposes, to fill customer's orders and to send the customer a catalog. If we have trouble processing an order, the information is also used to contact the user. We do not share your information with any third-party businesses.
Security
This Web site takes every precaution to protect our users' information. When users submit sensitive information via the Web site, their information is protected both online and off-line.
When our registration/order form asks users to enter sensitive information (such as credit card number), that information is encrypted and is protected with the best encryption software in the industry - SSL. While on a secure page, such as our order form, the lock icon on the bottom of Web browsers such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer becomes locked, as opposed to un-locked, or open, when users are just 'surfing'.
While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online, we also do everything in our power to protect user-information off-line. All of our users' information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted in our offices. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, our billing clerk or a customer service representative) are granted access to personally identifiable information. Furthermore, ALL employees are kept up-to-date on our security and privacy practices. Any time new policies are added, our employees are notified and/or reminded about the importance we place on privacy, and what they can do to ensure our users' information is protected. Finally, the servers that store personally identifiable information are in a secure environment, in a locked facility.

Cookies
A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's computer tied to information about the user. We use both session ID cookies and persistent cookies. For the session ID cookie, once users close the browser, the cookie simply terminates. A persistent cookie is a small text file stored on the user's hard drive for an extended period of time. This allows our customer's to leave items in their shopping carts even if customer leaves site and returns, and help improve our web site's functionality, navigation and performance.
By setting a session ID cookie on our site, users would not have to log in a password more than once during each visit (user must close browser to end visit), thereby saving time while on our site. If users reject the cookie, they may still use our site but will not be able to add items to their shopping bag. The only drawback to this is that the user will need to log-in each time they need their personal account info, check order status or check out. |
