Maintaining or Updating the Brace and Band
General maintenance check-up for Band.
Is the band under the screw heads on the back bar or not? Is the band tight or loose? Make sure the base supporting the tank is secure before adjusting the band. (See Securing the Base) To tighten the band, loosen the hex head screws enough to give the band some sliding room. Turn the worm screw on the band at the back of the frame, until the band is tight. Make sure the band is under the lip of the hex head screws, and tighten them over the band.

Updating a band to the adjustable brace and band system.
The brace and band fit all frame styles with a back bar.
  • Undo the screws and detach the old band and brace from the frame.
  • Remove screws from the new plastic brace.
  • Gently, lean the tank forward and insert the new brace against the frame.
  • Push the red hose into the circular space cut into the brace to hold it.
  • Insert a brace screw into the outer hole of the frame. Check brace alignment before drilling.
  • Secure the brace to the frame by screwing through the frame into the brace. Keep the bit a level 90 degrees to the frame to insure a straight line into the brace. Do both sides. Leave the hex head screws sticking out of the frame about 1/4 inch to rest the band on.
  • Insert the end of the band into the worm screw and with a few turns, secure into a loop.
  • Slip this loop of banding over the frame and tank centering the worm screw between the frame at the back of the unit. Grip the worm screw with a pair of vice grips and insert a screwdriver, or electric flat head drill bit, into the worm screw slot. Tighten until very secure.
  • Tap the band until it rests under the lip of the hex head screws. Tighten the hex head screws firmly into the frame securing the band. Always loosen the hex head screws to allow the band to move when turning the worm screw to tighten the band.
